Welcome to the family, Frank!!  On Thursday, April 19, 2012, Frank prayed to receive Christ as his personal Savior!  Frank has been attending a small group Bible study and weekly Worship services.  He plans to be baptized in the lake when the weather warms up.  We rejoice with the angels in Heaven and thank you for your prayers for Frank’s salvation.

Please continue to pray for the church plant in Brühl. We are meeting each Sunday in a rented meeting room at the Ramada Hotel. Each Sunday we have had an average of 15 present with new visitors each week. Ask God to bless this time of worship and that more and more will attend each week.  We are also looking for a more permanent meeting place. Ask God to lead us to the place He will have us to move to and that it will be a place that will glorify Him.

Also pray for our small groups that meet each Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings.  Pray for Alex as she serves in the school each Thursday.

The marionettes are hanging in the trailer and we are getting practiced up for the Fruehlings Market, March 23-25. Hundreds of people will be passing by, stopping to see the show, make crafts, and talk to us. We will be sharing with them about Jesus and also advertising for our upcoming worship service in Brühl. Pray this next week for open hearts to the Gospel, a curiousity to come to the worship service, and a desire to know more about the Christian life.

Each Wednesday and Friday evening we gather together for our in-home small groups. Both of these groups were newly begun in January. Each group averages 8 people already! Last night, 10 of us gathered. Three people for whom you have been praying were present. Melanie and Paschal were there for the first time! They were really excited and plan to come back, be present at our small group fellowship and want to know when we will start worship services! They know very little about the Bible . God used the Live Nativity to connect us and cause a relationship to blossom. And, for those of you who know Paschal, he sat through the whole thing and joined in! (He has ADD) A true miracle in itself! Keep praying!

What an open door God has allowed as we once again go into the high school in Brühl! Sevier Heights BC, Knoxville, has answered the call and will spend 3 days among the students learning about Carnival (MardiGras) and teaching them about July 4th. This is another opportunity to deepen our relationships with the students and teachers. At the Live Nativity this year we had several students come and speak to us personally because of the time we have spent with them in the past. Many of the students received a packet from us. Pray that they will have read the evangelistic materials which will provide further opportunites to talk with one another when we are back in the school. Pray that they will “Trust in the Lord with all their heart and lean not on their own understanding.”

The Brühler Christmas Market is already up and running.  The Live Nativity begins December 4.  The first of five volunteer teams arrives on Wednesday, November 30.  They will be preparing the evangelistic packets and opening the live nativity/children´s pavilion/marionette theater.   Over the next 4 weeks, 39 volunteers from 5 different teams will be donning costumes, taking photos, making crafts and performing Marionette shows every day from December 4-23.  Pray for them to have safe travel and good health.  Pray for much fruit from the receiving of the written materials, the book of John, and the many conversations we anticipate.

Our Christmas Open House is Sunday, November 27 beginning at 2 p.m. (8 a.m. EST) . We have extended over 100 invitations and look forward to what God has in store as we munch on cookies and drink punch in an informal setting. As a result of the 2009 Open House, relationships were started which eventually resulted in 5 people coming to know the Lord in a personal way. We pray God will use this opportunity to bring many more into His kingdom.

We have another volunteer team coming Wednesday, Nov. 9-15 from Davis, CA.  They will be serving along with the church plant at the St. Martinsmarkt the 11-13th, as well as prayerwalking and preparing for Christmas.  This is our first time on this market.  We just had the marionettes on the market last week and will again at Christmas, so we thought we’d try something new for this market.  We’ll be doing the usual face painting, balloon animals, and crafts, but instead of marionettes, we’ll be telling God’s Story as we entertain through “magic tricks”.  Pray for our church plant team as they are the ones performing!  It won’t be anything elaborate – don’t worry, no sawing a person in half here.  All of the tricks are designed to be used to tell God’s Story.  Pray for all of us this weekend.  Pray for open opportunities to share a direct witness about Jesus and for open hearts and ears to hear as we paint faces, give away balloon animals, make crafts, and share God’s Story in a new way.

Church Plant Team:
Our Team has hit a lull in their outreach through their small group Bible studies so we are doing some restructuring and recapturing the vision. Pray for each group leader and the groups as they reach out to the lost around them. Pray that those who are invited will have an open mind and heart and seek to learn about God´s Word.

Tuesday, October 4 is the beginning of a long stretch of ministry with volunteer groups in Brühl.

Over the next 12 weeks, we have 7 volunteer teams coming from the States.  We’ll be on 3 different markets: the Hubertusmarket Oct. 28-30, St. Martinsmarkt Nov. 11-13, and the Weihnachtsmarkt (Christmas market) Dec. 4 – 24.

While 50 volunteers will make the trek to Germany over the next 12 weeks, you can be involved, too.  Check out the prayermapping page to pray along with us as we prayerwalk these areas.

Tuesday, Oct. 4 – safe arrival of the volunteer team from Knoxville, TN
Wed., Oct. 5 – Sunday School Workshop for church plant volunteers
Sat., Oct. 8 – Herbstfest (Fall Festival) at Jetts’ home.  Pray for those who have been invited to come with an open heart.  Pray for the volunteers and members of church plant to have opportunities in conversation with those that attend.  Pray for good weather.
Mon. Oct. 10 – We are in the High School in Brühl for English and Sport classes.  Pray for deepening relationships with the teachers and students at this school.
