Why Germany?

Germany is a country of 82,000,000 people, but only 1% claim to know Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour.

Germany is the land of Martin Luther and the Reformation, so why is there a need for missionaries?  Germany may have a strong religious heritage, but over the years Christianity has become a hollow religion. There are two state churches – Lutheran and Catholic.  While the majority of the population belongs to one of these churches, they do so only as a result of their infant baptism, in which they place their eternal security.  There is little talk of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Church life in Germany has been described as a “cold religion” focusing on ritual and membership, but not on personal commitment.  The people of Germany must hear that Christianity is not an empty tradition, but a living and vibrant relationship with Christ. They need to know that there is forgiveness that is available regardless of the past and there is hope for the future, but only through the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
